We Stand Together

Yesterday my mom, some great friends, and I participated in the Phoenix Children’s Hospital 5K.  My sister registered as a virtual walker and was with us in spirit.  It was a huge event that raised more than $300,000.  I was a little sad at first; seeing so many families with critically ill kids brought tears to my eyes, but my friend swooped in, reminded me it was a good thing so many people were there, and instantly pulled me out of it.

It was fun to walk through downtown Phoenix and past the state capitol.  This is the most relaxed I have ever been at a 5K.  Not running was awesome.

Orange is the Leukemia awareness ribbon color.  I learned this from Tate’s friend’s little brothers Luke and Peter when they dedicated their cello duet at a recital to Tate and explained why they were wearing orange bow ties.

My mom and me.  Despite the obvious height difference, we look a lot alike.

These brilliant ladies have been friends since 9th grade.  I am beyond lucky to have them in my world.

My tall girl posse.  Do it for Dwayne!

This impossibly cute family brought us all orange “WE STAND TOGETHER” bracelets.

Thank you to Kathy Swier and Jennifer Fromm for your donations to Phoenix Children’s Hospital!

Yesterday was another example of the support we have received since Tate’s diagnosis.  We can’t do this alone.  Thank you giving us hope!
