Six of Six, Round 1

Yesterday Tate received his last 3 shots to complete the first series of Erwinase.  (There are three series of six doses total.)  The nurses worked swiftly, cheerfully, and competently, trying to make it as tolerable as possible, but it still took a lot out of him.  He slept most of the yesterday afternoon, all night, and much of today.  There was no stopping for corn dogs on the way home.

We were back in Tate’s favorite room; the small one with the sliding door and the lights that can be turned off completely.  It’s very close quarters.  We try not to make any obnoxious noises, especially since he has become so sound sensitive, but I swear that room is booby trapped with a very squeaky chair!  It is almost impossible to sit there and not make noise even though we’re really, really trying.

We’re all still in masks to protect Tate from potential bugs working their way through our house.  Scott goes to the largest university in the country, works both at a mall and with a high school marching band, and sounds sounds like he’s fighting something recently.  Greg just returned home from California and was surrounded by several sick people on his flight.  We’re doing everything we can to protect Tate from illness while he battles leukemia and the many side effects of treatment.

If you visit, we have lots of masks for you too!
