Good Stuff

Not having chemotherapy for a week has proven beneficial for Tate already.  Today Tate was able to walk from his bedroom to the bathroom and back instead of using the wheelchair.  He walked!  I was overjoyed.  Tate has not been able to walk for more than two months.  It took all of his strength and left him very tired and achy, but he did it!

Tate started working on one of his last two high school classes again today also.  We had to freeze his schooling for a while as he was not able keep up with the online course requirements.  Tate has always excelled in school, and falling behind is new to him.  He has declined several offers to help; he wants to do it himself.  No shortcuts.

The picture is blurry (sorry), but I really like it.  It shows one of Tate’s happier moments when he was playing with Ludo.

***Team Make Tate Great Again***

My mom and I are going to participate in the Phoenix Children’s Hospital 5K on October 6th.  The best way I can put it is that Phoenix Children’s Hospital has been a wonderful place for a terrible thing to happen, and participating in the event is a good way to give back in a small way.  The staff have treated us so well, and Tate is alive today due to their efforts.  If you live in the greater Phoenix area, please consider joining us!  I don’t have enough brain power or energy to form an official team, but we can register as individuals and meet somewhere before the race.  I will be walking the whole thing; that is the extent of my ambition and fitness levels.

If you live outside far away and still want to participate, you can register as a “Virtual Walker.”
