Getting There!

Something AMAZING happened last weekend.

Tate went to a Magic The Gathering event by himself and stayed all day. He was limping, hungry, and had a rash when we picked him up, but none of that seemed important compared to the huge smile on his face and the string of stories he told us on the ride home.

Howard & Tate

Howard Lyon was one of the artists at the Magic event. The Lyon family used to live in our neighborhood but has since moved to Utah, and now Howard and his wife Shari travel the world for his art engagements and projects. Scott and Tate both played little league baseball with his two sons, and Greg was an assistant coach for several seasons. Greg did a tricky thing and reached out to Howard through Facebook to let him know Tate was coming, and it’s a good thing he did because Tate sent Greg a text saying he was feeling too shy to approach him. Greg assured Tate it would be okay and to head over. The Lyons gave Tate the warmest welcome and introduced him to some of the other artists. Howard sent this picture to Greg. I love the smiles.

Tate has pretty much been asleep since his big outing. Ha!

Violet looks thrilled. Tate looks wonderful.
Still using the Halloween cat for flowers this week.

Tate has two physical and occupational therapy appointments this week. I’ll be telling Duane and John how grateful I am that Tate was strong enough to spend a day out by himself and how they were such a big part of that.
