Chemo May 2020

Tate’s appointment went well yesterday. His ANC is 1360, and his hemoglobin and platelets are at a good level, too. They did some X-rays on his back since he’s still experiencing some pain, and the results were normal. There is no explanation for how Tate got hurt last month. Greg’s comment was that he thinks Tate “might have weird physical things the rest of his life from all this.” And as if to prove him right, Tate limped in and said his right hip joint hurts but that nothing had happened to injure it.

Getting chemo. This nurse is Lindsay. She has been at most of Tate’s appointments for the last 6 months and is probably the happiest, sweetest person Tate comes into contact with at the clinic.

Tate got his Vincristine and started his 5-day steroid pulse yesterday. Everyone in the clinic that saw him was surprised at how skinny he looks. I have been thinking the same thing about him, but his weight actually went up by 1 pound. This guy, he just keeps us guessing.

Tate is miserable today and will be for the next week. The Vincristine hits him hard every time, and from what I hear the steroids are bad for everyone. I just checked on him, and he is working on his laptop to finish out the semester strong even though he doesn’t feel like it.

Tate’s Gramps had some snacks delivered shortly after his appointment yesterday. Salt & Vinegar Pringle’s have become a chemo recovery favorite.
Flowers this week are super annoying. As soon as I took them out of the plastic, two of the flower heads fell off and a third had only half its petals.

We’re all doing fine. Both Greg and the old dog have recovered from their individual maladies, and Scott seems to be hanging in there.
