This Is BIG!
Today is exactly one year since Tate’s last chemotherapy infusion. Can you believe it? A whole year.
Tate’s appointment went well. His blood work looks good; the platelets that were so low they caused everyone alarm have increased to an almost normal level, and his ANC is in a good place. His weight is slowly and steadily increasing. When the nurse practitioner Angie asked if he has been exercising, he gave her a flat, unimpressed “No” and a look that told her he had no intention of starting. She laughed and said, “Well at least you’re honest!”
Most importantly, when his appointment was over, Tate hopped in his car and drove away.
And that has been the goal the whole time – for Tate to get his life back.
I thought there would be a celebratory lunch or dinner with the family today, but Greg is in Kentucky on a twice-postponed trip with his friend, Scott lives in a different state, and Tate had things to do. Having a good, normal day is a celebration in itself. I can see that.
As for me, I let my family know the results and then went back to my desk where I was absolutely no help to anyone at all. I’m so happy and four-years tired at the same time. My co-worker said, “Wow. You’re a mood today.” Ha ha.
Tate’s next checkup will be in November. But I’ll be back before then. We have more stories to tell.
Great update, so happy for you all!
