Not Even Taco Tuesday
Today was a long day. Tate had a lumbar puncture followed by chemo. The doctors kept him for observation and gave him fluids afterward because his blood pressure was low when he woke from general anestesia. The extra fluids seemed to help with the headache he usually gets on LP days, so we are going to ask that he be given fluids every time. Tate went to sleep as soon as we got home, and even the promise of Taco Tuesday was not enough to rouse him for dinner. His appetite has disappeared since resuming chemo last week, which is a problem. He cannot afford to lose more weight.
This is Tate arriving at the clinic early this morning wearing the Swamp House shirt from the Spicys. We had a zipper added to the front, and now it is a one-of-a-kind port shirt he can wear on procedure days. If you’re wondering, the Swamp House is an unforgettable restaurant on the bank of the St. Johns River in Florida where the food is fried and the drinks served in small buckets. You can arrive by car or boat; there is parking for both.
This is what getting chemo looks like for Tate. When this picture was taken, the lumbar puncture had been completed, and the second type of chemo was being administered. The third dose of chemo for the day is in pill form, and we gave it to him at home.
Special shout-out to my dad on his 75th birthday. Happy Birthday! I love you!
