More Corn Dogs

Today’s appointment was pretty quick compared to most.  They got Tate into a room right away and gave him his chemo shots a few minutes later.  He has to stay at the clinic for an hour after the injections in case of adverse reactions.  So far he has been fine.  The more comfortable infusion rooms were full of other sick kids receiving treatment, so Tate had to wait it out in one of the exam rooms.  His nurse Michelle always makes sure he is as comfortable as possible.

Here we are at Sonic, keeping the new tradition of chemotherapy and corn dogs going strong.  Chemotherapy has done a lot of damage to Tate’s nerves, making him extremely sensitive to light and sound.  That’s why he’s wearing big sunglasses and noise cancelling headphones in a lot of pictures we share.

Greg returned home from his travels yesterday and said the flight was full of people coughing.  We both make an effort to stay away from busy places to avoid getting sick and bringing anything home to Tate, but when you’re trapped in an airplane for a few hours there’s really nowhere to go.  We’re all wearing masks for a few days in an effort to keep Tate from catching a cold, a cough, the flu, and anything else.
