Gaining On It
It’s quiet here this week. Tate’s school had a major technical problem so he is enjoying a second week of spring break. He spent the first one feeling sick and trying to catch up on homework, projects, etc. Our whole house feels different when Tate’s health struggles ease – it’s just easier to breathe.
The appetite stimulants are working! Tate woke up hungry after just one dose and he has been eating regularly for a week. Greg loves it because he gets to cook all of Tate’s favorite things for him, and I love it because watching the skeleton version of my son walking around our house scares me. Possibly the best part about it is that there’s not a constant, careful conversation about it with Tate – he feels hungry and then he eats, just like a normal person. He needs to gain 12 pounds to eek into a “normal” BMI range.
My sweet friend from work Peggy gave us a DoorDash voucher and one day Tate ordered a ton of food with it! He handed my phone back to me after he added all the items to the cart so I could finish the transaction and I had to hold back a laugh – a surprised, happy laugh. He ordered so much I couldn’t believe it: stir fry, extra rice, pot stickers. If ever there was a magical combination, it’s appetite stimulants and DoorDash.
We’re grateful there’s not much information to relay. Starting yesterday, COVID vaccines are open to everyone in Maricopa County ages 16 and up. The appointments filled almost immediately, but we’ll keep trying. Until then we’ll be hanging out on Northridge Street.
Skeleton is the correct description. Goodness, his shirt sags everywhere.
Pretty crazy to have a technical difficulty that is down f o r a whole week! I’m hoping he can recover from next treatment faster. Better yet, he doesn’t get sick at all.
Hugs & thanks for the,update.
